Overview of Programs & Services
We are very excited about our plans for the coming school year. Our theme will be "Creation-Station: Preschool + Fine Arts Learning & Creating through Music, Art, & Literature." We will be learning about famous artists, artworks, authors, illustrators, composers/musicians, musical pieces, and the wide variety of styles associated with each of these elements. It's amazing how many math and science concepts fit into these topics as well; the kids are sure to be exposed to a wide array of concepts & skills next year...but most importantly, it will be fun and engaging!
At Kids Under Construction, our curriculum and activities are created with kindergarten readiness in mind. Using the Core Knowledge® Preschool Curriculum, we design and implement activities which help foster the development of the variety of skills needed for kindergarten success. Please see below for specifics on our curriculum and for class descriptions.

Sample Daily Schedule
ArtSmart! This is an all-art inspired adventure class in which children will take an in depth look at famous artists and be inspired to create their own masterpieces and more. This class will meet once per week for the year and can be taken as a stand alone class or added to our other regular class options (for example, you can register for our 3 day classes and add this art class to your schedule). This is a perfect option for your mini-Monet or petite-Picasso!
Kinder-Jump is our Jr. Kindergarten program for children between 4 and 5 years of age and is structured more like a kindergarten classroom. Enrolled children should have prior experience in a preschool setting and have some basic knowledge of letters, sounds & numbers. Children will build on prior knowledge and gain new skills in the areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies through a mix of developmentally appropriate activities, learning centers, and structured lessons.
Kinder-Jump classes are scheduled to meet for 3½ hours on M/W/F mornings (8:30-12 noon) and M/W/F afternoons (12:45-4:15 PM). 4-day and 5-day classes are also available.
Our Pre-Kindergarten Program is structured as an introduction to a school setting for 4 & 5 year olds. Children enrolled in these classes will experience a mix of basic skills-based lessons and free exploration. These classes are designed to fit the age and developmental level of the children in each class and are intended to prepare children for kindergarten through a variety of social interactions, as well as writing, early math, and pre-reading activities. Children enrolled in our Pre-Kindergarten classes must be 4 years old by September of the starting school year.
Pre-Kindergarten Classes are scheduled to meet on T/Th mornings & M/W afternoons (mixed-age class) and on M/W/F afternoons. 3½ hour morning sessions are from 8:30 to 12 noon. The afternoon sessions are from 12:45 to 4:15 PM. The T/Th class has a special intergenerational feature; children spend time once per month with senior citizens in our community.
Our Preschool Program is very similar to our Pre-Kindergarten Program, but tailored to better fit the developmental needs of 3 & 4 year olds. Children enrolled in these classes will also experience a mix of basic skills-based lessons and free exploration and are designed to fit the age and developmental level of the children in each class. These classes are also intended to prepare children for kindergarten by exposing them to a variety of social interactions, as well as writing, early math, and pre-reading activities. Children enrolled in our Preschool classes must be at least 33 months old and toilet trained by September of the starting school year.
Preschool Classes are scheduled to meet on T/Th mornings; M/W/F mornings; M/W afternoons (mixed-age class); & M/W/F afternoons (mixed-age class). 3½ hour morning sessions are from 8:30 to 12 noon and afternoon sessions are from 12:45 to 4:15 PM.
Early Preschool Program
This program is designed for children between the ages of 31 months and 3½ years who will have multiple years in a preschool setting. This program is structured to introduce children to their first school experience through social play and learning activities. Children enrolling in this program must be toilet trained by the start of the school year.
